Calendar Updates

November       20 & 21           Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC) 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.

                        27 – 29            Thanksgiving Break

Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee: Please join us in the gym at noon on Wed.,        Nov. 20 for the Spelling Bee.  Students in grades 4 – 6 will be competing.

Match Day: Donations are being accepted for our school.  Tomorrow morning all donations collected at school will be taken to Big Rapids for this event.  Go to www.mecostagives.com for details regarding Match Day.

Scrip: Last day to order Scrip for Christmas gifts will be Dec. 13th. See Mrs. McCall if you have questions about this program.  New families, Mrs. McCall will be glad to help you but our veteran families can help you too!  Check out www.stmikes.us under Current News for information from Mrs. McCall explaining our scrip program.

Parent Teacher Conferences: We look forward to seeing you this week for PTC!  I have asked the teachers to please keep conferences between 10 – 15 minutes as others are waiting for a conference and may have several teachers to see.  If more time is needed for individual cases, I ask teachers and parents to arrange a conference at a different time.  Thank you for your understanding.

Poinsettia Orders: Plants will be ready for pick up after Masses Dec. 7th & 8th or after school Monday, Dec. 19th.

Lockdown: As you know we are required from the State of Michigan to conduct 2 supervised lockdown events per school year.  Deputy Balahoski from the Mecosta County Sherriff’s Office conducted one last Thursday afternoon.  She and I were very satisfied with our first lockdown.

School Parents from Marie Chapman: Join the Home & School Committee for our first Parents’ Night.  We will be having dinner at the Remus Tavern at 6 p.m. on Wed. Dec. 4.  No meeting- no agenda!  Just a meal with fellow parents and staff.  Please RSVP to me.  Also, if you are not getting Home & School emails from me, please let me know at chapmanmariec@hotmail.com

Social Justice Members: We have a request from this parish program.  Some members are going to Haiti to visit our sister parish and would like to take dolls of color for children.  They ask that the brown or black skin dolls be 12 inches or less and be washable. They will accept donations now through January. Dolls may be brought to our school office.  Thank you!

Mass Days: The 3rd & 4th   graders will be planning the 9 a.m. Mass. Please join us!

Snow Pants/Boots/Hats/Mittens: Very soon snow pants and boots will be required for recess.  Every year I have some older students that do not want to wear snow pants and boots.  When this happens some younger students try to not wear snow pants and boots.  Mrs. McCall does not have a spare pair of pants for every student who needs dry clothing because they refuse to wear cold weather clothing.  It may even be smart to put a dry pair of old socks in back packs.  I have seen many wet socks from recess too. This leads me to advising to check back packs nightly, and take out wet clothing. Please make sure your child has a hat & mittens in his/her backpack for recesses.
