Smart Tuition:  If you are making one payment or monthly payments, they begin July 2013. Our business office will send credits (payments, scholarships, etc.) and registration fees to Smart Tuition.  You may turn your forms into our office or fill them out on line.  Let me know if I can help in any way.  Thank you.

Survey:  Please take a moment to fill out the survey that came home last Monday and return it by the end of the school year.   

Library Needs Helpers: Mrs. Johnston needs our help sorting library books!  Can anyone help Wed. June 5 from 1 to 4 p.m. and Friday, June 7 from 8 a.m. to noon. Due to the nature of the work, please do not bring younger children with you.

Kingdom Rock: Today your child is bringing home a participant sign-up sheet.  Please fill it out and send back in by Friday, June 7th.  Thank you.

Thanks to Mr. Harrington for making DVD of the 2013 Celebration of the Arts Program. They are available for $10.  Order forms available in the office.

Note from Amy Fiegel: It's time to start planning for Elephant Ear Wagon!  If you are new to St. Mikes, we sell elephant ears at Wheatland Music Festival.  It's always the weekend after Labor Day. This year it is Sept. 6-7-8.  This really is the most fun fundraiser, ask anyone who’s worked it!  Sign-up sheet will be on the wall near the office.  If you have any questions, please contact me.  Thanks for your support.   (989) 289-5241     afiegel36@gmail.com

Our students will need transportation to and from school.  Students may bring their lunch and eat here or have lunch with parents when they are picked up at noon.  Chippewa Hills students last day will be Thursday and it is a FULL day of school with bussing and hot lunch.    

Father Michael: In case you were gone Memorial Weekend, Father Michael announced he has a new job assignment. In July he will become the new pastor in Big Rapids.  We do not know who will be replacing him here at St. Michael’s.  At the end of the year Mass, our school would like to present him with a small gift.  Please send in $1 in an envelope for your family, and you are welcome to join us on Friday, June 7 at 9 a.m. for this Mass.

June 3 – Thursday, June 6.  All of us are very proud of our PS and K classes for working

hard to learn letters and sounds.  Please join us for off code days. Congratulations successful readers this year! 

2013- 2014 School Year: Next school year will probably be a lot like this year with home rooms and team teaching.  When plans become more firm, I will email you and post a newsletter on our web page.  In August I will mail a letter and calendar to your homes.

Thank You:  Parents, thank you for all you did to make our school year successful. Home & School activities were wonderful this year!  Our officers gave us great leadership!

Staff Thank You: Our parents are really great about sharing appreciation for a job well done, so I know we will be hearing from them.  I would like to thank everyone for all the hard work and efforts.  Mr. Lobert has shared some impressive reading scores with me, and I am sure everyone else can add much growth was experienced this year!

Families Moving: We hope your new communities will come to love you as much as we do.  We hope to hear from you and learn how our children are doing in their new schools.  Remember what a great place Mecosta County is to vacation in, and please visit us often!Best of luck!  Much love, Mrs. Schoner & Staff

 What to wear to Celebration of the Arts? Thursday, May 16 @ 7 p.m.  students should dress in their Sunday best clothing, however animal or bug shirts are permissible!  Students report to classrooms at 6:45 p.m.  All are welcome!

 Penny War: The winners are our PS/K classes! The first prize for our PS/K students will be off code days Monday, May 13th  – Thursday, May 16th. When the students learned they won, one student asked if they could share their prize!  There will be an ice cream treat shared for ALL students one day this week. Remember all proceeds will go towards new books or replacing old books for our Accelerated Reader (AR) Program. Thank you for supporting this program. Here are the numbers:

Remember, pennies + dollars were positive while silver took away.  Grand total raised is $475.10, and Mr. Lobert got quite a charge out the “silver” that was so nicely deposited in his classroom container!

May Crowning: Please join us for our May Crowning of Mary on Friday, May 3 at the

9 a.m. Mass.  Children may bring in a few flowers to present at the grotto before Mass begins.

 

Please keep our Second Graders in your prayers as they put the final touches on preparation for their First Holy Communion during their retreat day this Friday.  They will make their First Holy Communion this Sunday, May 5th at the 11 a.m. Mass.

 Science Fair: Last Thursday’s Science Fair was an enjoyable evening.  It seemed the guest enjoyed talking to the young scientist and visiting the school.  Mrs Babbitt, thank you for the passion you bring to our science program!

Alleluia Christ has risen!  Happy Easter Season!

 Summer Bridge Activities: The school will be ordering these summer supplemental materials for $9.95 if you are interested.  Go to www.summerbridgeactivites.org to preview materials. It is my understanding that the school does not have to pay shipping cost, but single orders placed will have to pay about $4.00 in shipping.  Orders are due Monday, April 29th.

 Menu Change: April 15th & 16th are switched with each other.

 Home & School Meeting:  Mrs. Hansen, Mrs. Babbitt, and Mrs. Mickey shared some teaching tips with us.  We had a great turnout and good discussion items.  The last meeting of the year may be held in conjunction with helping Mrs. Barnum display art work for Celebration of the Arts. More information will follow.

 Holy Week: Reminder no school on Good Friday.  Check the church bulletin or web site for the Holy Week schedule. At church this past weekend Father Michael asked for altar servers to help out during Holy Week and for Easter Masses.  Please contact his secretary at 989- 967- 3520 if your children can fill these rolls.

 

Fish Fry: Thanks to all of you, we made it! Another fish fry season behind us! I have heard from numerous people that it appeared everything ran smoothly this year.  What a nice compliment to Julie & her crew!   

 

March is Reading Month:  To celebrate reading, Mrs. Johnston would like us to wear a T-shirt with a message on it Wed. March 27th.  The Men’s Club is popping us a treat too!
